Solve pollution. Save lives.
Protect the planet.

Country Summary

In Egypt, more than 85,000 people are dying from pollution each year, according to the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation—that’s 16% of all deaths. Specifically, 71% are dying from air pollution and 17% from lead poisoning. In addition, hundreds of thousands of people, especially children, are permanently disabled from toxins like lead. Pure Earth is seeking to launch an initiative in Egypt. Given Egypt’s large population and the significant impact pollution is having on the health of its citizens, a pollution initiative in Egypt has great potential to save lives and serve as a model for the region.
