Country Summary
Pure Earth has been working in Bolivia since 2013, when the TSIP training was launched there. Since then, Pure Earth has continued to identify toxic sites throughout the country. Upon realizing that artisanal miners were using large quantities of toxic mercury to separate out gold, Pure Earth began a program training artisanal gold miners to incorporate mercury-free techniques. With artisanal mining causing over a third of global mercury pollution, these interventions have huge potential for reducing global mercury pollution.
