John A. Pwamang

Mr. John A. Pwamang obtained a BSc. in Public Health Engineering from Brown University in the USA in June 1982 and a Masters of Science in Water and Environmental Management from the Loughborough University in the United Kingdom in 1996. He coordinated the implementation of the UNDP/UNITAR/EPA-Ghana Project on Capacity Building for the Elimination of Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) in Ghana and successfully collected PCBs and PCB-contaminated materials from Ghana and disposed of them in an environmentally sound manner in Europe. He was member of the Boards of the Ghana Maritime Authority and the Nuclear Regulatory Authority until his retirement in September 2020. He attended a number of short courses in environmental and related issues and participated in a number of international conferences. He has published a number of scientific and technical papers on various topics. Mr. Pwamang is currently engaged as part-time Lecturer in Nuclear and Environmental Protection at the Graduate School of Nuclear and Allied Sciences, University of Ghana and engages in environmental consultancy. His areas of expertise are in hazardous chemicals and hazardous waste management and control.
