World Environment Day Photography Competition: A Pollution-free Safe World for Children

As we mark World Environment Day on June 5th, with the support of the Department of Environment (DoE) under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC); Pure Earth Bangladesh is going to organize a seminar in collaboration with youth groups — Bangladesh Youth Environmental Initiative (BYEI) and Volunteers for Bangladesh – Dhaka District South, a youth wing of the JAAGO Foundation — the seminar titled “Empowering Youth to Combat Lead Pollution.” This event aims to raise awareness and develop youth-led solutions to combat lead pollution in Bangladesh.
As part of the seminar, a photography competition will be held under the theme “A Pollution-Free Safe World for Children.” Participants can submit their photos in either the mobile or digital photography category. The winners will be awarded a crest, prize money – first prize: 10,000 TK, second prize: 5,000 TK and Third Prize: 3,000TK, and a certificate by distinguished guests during the event on Sunday, June 9, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the auditorium of the Department of Environment, Agargaon, Dhaka. All the participants will receive an e-certificate as an acknowledgment of their participation in the competition.

Rules and Regulations
1. Participants must be Bangladeshi citizens residing in Bangladesh, aged 15 to 26.
2. The photograph should illustrate the theme “A Pollution-free Safe World for Children”.
3. Each photographer can submit a maximum of two photos per category (mobile or digital photography categories). A participant should submit photos for one category only; either mobile photography or digital photography.
4. If the participant becomes the winner, then s/he must be able to present at the seminar on June 9, from 3 to 5 pm, at the auditorium of the Department of Environment, Dhaka to receive the prize.
5. Photos must be original, without watermarks, and copyright-free.
6. Photos that have previously won prizes in other competitions are not eligible for submission in this competition.
Both color and black-and-white photos are accepted, taken within the last six years (from May 25, 2024).
7. High-resolution images in landscape or portrait mode are required.
8. No excessive digital alterations beyond standard optimization (e.g., dust removal, cropping, exposure, color, and contrast adjustments) are allowed.
9. Each photo must include a caption detailing the background of the photo.
10. Pure Earth Bangladesh will own the copyright of selected and winning photos and may use them on social media and for reporting purposes.

Details of Submission
The photograph must be submitted on or before June 03, 2024, 11:59 PM through the registration form. Any photograph received after June 03, 2024, 11:59 PM will not be considered for the competition.
